Sunshine & Daisy Daydream
March 6, 2025 • Digital Illustration • Minor Work
Introduction
Created in the weeks following the loss of my heart dog, Izzie, Sunshine Daisy Daydream is a hand-drawn mandala built entirely from white daisies.
Rendered in an expressive, Van Gogh-inspired style, the piece embraces energetic brushstrokes, vibrant color, and visible movement rather than polished perfection. It became a way of holding onto light while learning to live beside grief.
For fifteen years I called Izzie my "Sunshine Puppy." Daisies became one of the many symbols that now remind me of her. This piece is both a memorial and a celebration of the joy she brought into my life.
You are my sunshine, My only sunshine
You make me happy, When skies are gray,🌞
You'll never know, dear, How much I love you
Please don't take, My sunshine away. 🌞
The other night, dear, As I lay sleeping,
I dreamed I held you, In my arms,
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken,
So I hung my head and cried. 🌞
You are my sunshine, My only sunshine,
You make me happy, When skies are gray, 🌞
You'll never know, dear, How much I love you,
Please don't take, My sunshine away. 🌞
