Introduction

To be seen is to be known. To be known is to be judged.
Nothing escapes the sight of the divine. They see beyond deception, beyond illusion, beyond time itself.

Live with honor, and the eyes become light, guardians, and wisdom. Stray from truth, and they become an unshakable reminder that nothing is ever truly hidden.

They remind us that every action, every thought, every ripple of energy we put into the world is accounted for. Karma does not forget.

The work is a dense, symmetrical mandala made of repeating eye-like forms. I used fine hand-drawn linework, strong color contrast, and fluid movement to bring it together. It was made in just a few days, but it pulls together different threads from my earlier work into something that feels complete on its own.

Even though this is listed as a minor piece, it carries more weight than that for me. It felt like a natural step after the heavier mandalas from earlier in the year, and it stands as a strong, fully realized work.

Symbols + Meaning

The title and central motif originated from a personal dream in which a peacock appeared as a clear and meaningful sign.

The peacock’s shimmering “eyes” trace back to the myth of Argus Panoptes, the hundred-eyed giant whom Hera set to guard Io, one of Zeus’s lovers.

Silver-tongued and cunning, Hermes was sent to free Io. He lulled Argus to sleep with music before striking him down.
As tribute, Hera gathered his many eyes and set them into the peacock’s tail, transforming them into an eternal symbol of divine sight, protection, and truth.
